Article: Ten Reasons to Install Rural Electric Fence

Ten Reasons to Install Rural Electric Fence

If you have any sort of animal in your care, at some stage or another you will be thinking about fencing and security. When animals escape it costs us both money and time; the easiest solution is to stop them escaping. Traditional fencing has served farms in New Zealand for many years .We are not asking you to rip it all up and start again ,we are looking at reinforcing these fences and making them last longer.

As most conversations come down to money, let’s start with that. A traditional barb and smooth wire fence will only last as long as the posts installed .No matter how well we install them they will eventually need replacement and this a substantial investment in your property. By reducing the pressure placed on the posts by the livestock, you can dramatically extend the lifespan of your fence line. We can install a hot wire a few centimeters to the side of the actual fence which eliminates livestock leaning on the posts or using them as scratching posts.

If we install our hot wire on a barb wire fence this stops animals hides getting damaged or ripped ,if we install the hot wires on both sides if the fencing it will stop the animals fighting over/through the fences.

Electric fences can be used for any number of applications as they have the following advantages:

  • Cost effective.
  • Quick to install.
  • Light, easy to carry components.
  • Can be permanent or temporary installations.
  • Stand alone or piggy backed onto existing fences.
  • Can be customized to suit the animals/stock you want to control.
  • Different size units to suit different fence lengths.
  • Different power supply system available.(Solar ,Mains powered &Battery)
  • Animals learn to respect the boundaries and gates.
  • Variety of uses such as, weaning, strip grazing, electrified cattle grids
